The Resistance is Real

Dear Reader,

The RESISTANCE you feel is real.

Not in your head real.

REAL.

And there is no “self-help” that will quiet the voices you hear. There are no coaches, no programs to soothe the voices you hear because the voices are not your own.

There is an enemy.

He’s real.

And he’s pissed off.

He knows the war is lost but since he’s already damned, he’s going to do his best to take everyone he can down with him.

It’s pure anger… rage… pride… arrogance… and destruction you are up against.

The voices you hear are from this enemy and his soldiers whose job it is to rob, to kill and to destroy… to devour.

Get this…

This enemy is not out to merely trip up… not just sidetrack… not simply get in the way…

ROB. KILL. DESTROY. DEVOUR.

I know people don’t like to talk about the devil. I realize people think that’s an old term from an outdated, dead religion. And if I was the devil, that’s exactly where I’d want people to be in their thinking.

Why?

Because if the devil can get me to believe he’s not believable… well… then I’ll look for every other way on the planet to stop the voices of resistance and destruction – those voices of unworthiness, self-doubt, hate, pride, not good enough, etc…

You see, you and I can never successfully defend against (much less conquer) an enemy we do not acknowledge.

Hey, I get it…

The Church sucks more often than not.

People who claim to be Christians do some stupid things and they hurt alot of people.

I get it.

Truth is, Jesus wasn’t real fond of the church he found when he rolled through town. Most of his arguments were with “Church folk”.

After all it was the religious leaders of the day that had Jesus KILLED.

So yeah, historically the church is a pretty screwed up place.

And it makes total sense to want to throw out the yucky parts of the teachings the church claims to follow – especially the uncomfortable parts about evil and the devil.

But here’s the thing…

If we, and I’m talking to people who claim to be Christians, ignore (or don’t believe) what the enemy is up to in this world, then how are we going to get victory in this life?

I guess what I’m trying to say is that by eliminating and refusing to acknowledge the scope, power and abilities of our enemy, we eliminate the need for God in our lives.

Because if the enemy is us, or something small enough to get our minds around, then we don’t need a supernatural God to conquer it. We can do it on our own.

And that’s exactly where the “roaring lion” wants you – alone.

Ever noticed how most addictions, vices and troubles cause us to retreat and want to be alone?

Could it be that it’s because of the shame we suddenly feel?

Where does that shame come from?

How is it that we can go from powerful and on top of the world to hearing a destructive voice in our minds that seems to come out of nowhere?

Could it be that the voice is actually coming from somewhere outside us right in the moment when it’s obvious we are increasing in strength and power?

If you were going to attack someone in battle or in a fight… do you wait for them to get fortified and strong or do you attack early and often while they are still trying to build up their defenses and power?

The RESISTANCE you feel is real.

Not in your head real.

REAL.

And there is no “self-help” that will quiet the voices you hear. There are no coaches, no programs to soothe the voices you hear because the voices are not your own.

There is an enemy.

He’s real.

And he’s pissed off.

That’s the bad news.

The good news is that if we claim our IDENTITY in Christ as children of the most high God, co-heirs with Christ, then we can resist the devil. And, we can (finally) live the abundant life Jesus promised.

In your corner,

Sean
